Goals
The National Institute on Science and Technology on Behavior, Cognition and Teaching. is founded on principles of the science and technology of behavior. Our main goal is to produce a scientific analysis of symbolic functioning and its precursors, including, but not limited to:
Identifying the necessary conditions for the development of symbolic functioning that is age appropriate;
Developing and/or refining specific procedures to cope with the challenges derived from interindividual variability in response to educational or therapeutic procedures, including those planned to improve functioning and also those designed for individuals with deficits in symbolic functioning;
Investigating and developing methods to establish symbolic functioning in educational and therapeutic environments.
Other goals include the education of young scientists, undergraduate and graduate students who participate in the Institute; and the dissemination of scientific results not only to other scientists, but also to health and education professionals, and more broadly, to the general public.
